Consulting Services
HC
Info provides consulting
services
related to Legionella
and other
waterborne pathogens to
owners, attorneys, and manufacturers. We also partner with engineering
firms,
environmental
consulting
firms,
and water
treatment
companies (call us about opportunities).
All our work is
handled or
managed by
Matt Freije.
Our
recommendations
are unbiased.
We
do not sell, or profit from, the remedial products or services that we
recommend--e.g., chemicals,
equipment, laboratory services, water
treatment. We
can help you...
-
Prevent problems. To help
protect your occupants and reduce your legal risk, we suggest that
you start with a facility assessment. We inspect plumbing
systems, cooling towers, and other water systems in hospitals,
hotels, and other large buildings throughout North America for
conditions that promote Legionella, and make cost-conscious
recommendations for minimizing risk. You should also have a management plan. Based on a
facility assessment and written like an in-house policy manual, the plan
outlines cost effective policies and procedures for minimizing
Legionella risk in the design, installation, operation, and
maintenance of your water systems. The plan will save you time
and money in the long run. Legionella education is also
important, and recommended by the CDC. We can provide
training for your organization
that's both effective and entertaining.
-
Solve problems.
We investigate cases of Legionnaires disease and work with you to solve Legionella
problems. We can oversee emergency
disinfection (if necessary), collect water samples, help you deal with the press and health
departments, and recommend a long-term remediation strategy that is
best for your situation.
-
Choose the best domestic
(potable) water
remediation strategy for your situation. No single
remedial strategy (e.g., chlorine dioxide, copper-silver ions, monochloramine,
filters) is best for all systems because a number of factors
must be considered. We recommend a long-term strategy for your
particular situation based on scientific studies and our experience.
We do not sell chemicals or equipment, so our recommendations are
unbiased. You
will save hours of research time, thousands of dollars, and perhaps a lot of
embarrassment.
-
Get a second opinion. Have you
received recommendations from a consultant, manufacturer, health
department, or water treatment company regarding Legionella or other
waterborne pathogens? Before making a final decision, contact Matt
Freije (760-494-3063 or mf@hcinfo.com)
for a second opinion. A second opinion doesn't cost much, but can
save you thousands of dollars and countless hours of wasted time.
-
Obtain an expert opinion in litigation.
Matt Freije
has been retained as
a Legionella expert by both plaintiffs and defendants in more than 25 cases, in AZ, CA, CO, FL,
GA, KY, MD, NC, NE, NJ, NV, NY, PA, SC, SD, and TX,
and has testified in depositions and trials.
Not all remedial measures
make sense. Some costly measures that are commonly recommended for
Legionella prevention have not been proven effective—in fact, some have
been proven ineffective. Conversely, many measures that cost little or
nothing can be quite effective in reducing risk. Based on scientific
studies and lots of experience, we divide recommendations into simple
cost-versus-benefit categories so that you can reduce risk without
overspending. Moreover, our recommendations are unbiased and not self
serving, because we do not sell the remedial products or services that
we recommend.
